Temple in Uniform

Here is Temple in his new uniform. He is really enjoying it. He still talks about Granddad pickup. We will see how things go when we go to Grandad's house tomorrow and he is not there.

Posting pics

Keeping a blog seems like such a good idea. However, you do really need to remember how to log on and how to add photos and such. Otherwise you just keep thinking, " I should really update that blog, but I can't remeber how to do it!" That is about as much of an appology as I'm willing to make right now for not keeping this thing updated. If I get better at blogging Temple's fans will have more place to criticize our tardyness at updating.

Anyway, Temple has been growing like a beansalk. He's already over 27" tall and around 16 1/2 lbs. He can roll over on his own both back to front and front to back. He's talking up a storm, smiling at everyone and chewing avidly. He's still an easy baby. He doesn't cry much unless he needs something. The notable exception being when he's fighting going to sleep.

Of course if you read this site you already know all of that. The real reason anybody logs on to this site is to look at the pictures of a very cute baby! So here are the goods.

Not very current but still one of my favorites.
HeadUp

It's really warm here in Mississippi, so you can go out running in January without really having to dress up much. This works out well for both me and Temple. I like to take him so that I can set a good example of an active lifestyle. I'm not sure he's getting it though, because every time we go out he falls asleep within three minutes and stay's asleep during the entire run. Oh well, at least I found a way to calm him down when he's really grumpy.

I also has some interesting observations while running with Temple. I don't know if my impressions are very accurate, they are just impressions, but I guess people aren't used to seeing runners around here very often because I could have been pushing a flying saucer for the looks I got. The other thing that struck me as funny was the number of people who asked me, "Is that your baby?" I'm not sure who elses baby the would expect me to be pushing around in a contraption that they clearly felt was bizzare. I don't see dads holding their babies very much , and I get a lot of looks (most of them very positive) when I cary Temple around in the Snuggly too. So I guess I'm just seen as a bit eccentric and I would hope that Temple is just seen a lucky boy who gets to spend quality time with his dad.

Going Home

COLORADO! Temple got his first trip home to Colorado over the last couple of weeks in September. He did really well on the drive there and was a big hit with family, friends and strangers alike. He likes to be held, which is nice. He's pretty friendly, also nice. And he only really cries when he wants something.

He grew by leaps and bounds during his first few weeks. As previously stated he was up to 9 lbs. 14 oz. by his 2 week appointment. Then, since we were going away for two weeks they wanted to see him at 3 weeks and a day for some shots. He had shot up to 10 lbs. 11 oz. in barely over a week! I hope everyone who has doubts about breastfeeding gets a chance to read this :-b

Everybody likes to hold Temple when he's sleeping. His Nana liked to hold him every moment she could. Temple liked it too. These two are going to be fast friends. No need to worry about any spoiling going on ;-)

His granddad was happy to hold him whenever he was free, which wasn't really all that often. Temple would like it if Granddad could come visit when the Army says its okay.

As this was Colorado in the fall Temple got to some of the wonderful aspens when he was going over Kenosha Pass to South Park. No foul mouthed cartoon characters, just a dad's conference of diabetic people who like mountain sports. Temple is quite the accoplished camper now having weathered a few nights in the tent when the temperatures got down into the high 20's. We hope he enjoyed the fall colors even if he can't quite focus on things that far away yet.

While out west Temple got two things that should make life a bit nicer. First he got the crib that his Granddad and Granddad's friend Bob have been working on for months. This beautiful piece of furniture was fashioned of fine sugar maple that used to make up the gym floor that Temple's mom played high school basketball on. How cool is that? He likes to sleep in it but he seems to like sitting in it watching the mobile that his grandma gave him even more. Go figure.

Then later on when the family was in Boulder, Mom picked up this cool baby wrap. Now Temple can get to ride around with mom when she's on the go. Let me tell you this thing does wonders for calming down an angry baby. And, as if holding the little guy close to mom's heartbeat wasn't good enough, it's made of stretchy material so he can move around pretty comfortably when he's in there.

All of the travel and meeting new people was fun but Temple did get pretty restless on the drive home. There was plenty of crying and LOTS of stops on the way back to the Delta. However, once he got rested up back home he was back to his regular happy self.

HappyBoy

He may not be all smiles all the time but he can sure be a lot of fun when he does smile. We'll try to put up pictures soon that feature his special new Tummy Tub from Deutchland. Das ist ja prima!

Sleeping Giants

Temple had his first Doctor's appointment yesterday. He weighs 9 lbs and 14 oz. That is almost a pound over his birth weight so I can probably stop worrying if I am feeding him enough or not. He is doing well today and is looking at faces more.

We are looking forward to him meeting everyone in Kansas and Colorado the week after next!

Flickr pics

Here is a link to all of his pictures on flickr.

First days at home.

So we made it home just fine. Amazingly enough the let us take the baby with us. It takes an electric bill and an old drivers liscence to get a new drivers license in Mississippi, but it only takes matching arm bands to take home a baby.
I forgot to put some vital information in the last blog. Temple was 20.5 inches long when he was born and weighed in at 8 lbs 15 oz. I knit him some baby socks befor he was born but they are already to small as of day 4 and I will have to make them longer if he is going to be able to wear them. He likes to stay up late at night and sleep in the morning. I wonder where he could have gotten that idea from. So far he is quite healthy and is nursing like a champ at all hours of the day and night. Here are a few pictures from his first day at home.

And last but not least. This one is from the hospital but I just couldn't resist.
